Healthy Halloween Tips
Are you dreading Halloween as a tempting time to overindulge on sweets and treats? You can still participate and pass out treats to children from the neighborhood; and take the temptation out of the holiday without losing out on the fun. Instead of sugary sweet treats, think of non-food items to give away. Some great ideas include pencils, stickers, miniature toys, spider rings, whistles, coins, balloons, etc. Check out the Halloween sections of your local stores for more ideas.
If you want to give out food, there are healthier alternatives to candy. You can hand out small packages of nuts, sugar-free gum, raisins, sugar-free cocoa packets, cheese sticks, or cheese and cracker packages. If you’re having a party, you can serve apple cider, popcorn, pumpkin seeds, and bob-for-apples! Check with your Diet Center Counselor for perfect “sweet treats” that will keep you in fat burning mode.
